What they took was the Ujian UKM1 2013
Ujian ini dijalankan mulai 1 Februari hingga 31 Mei 2013. Ujian ini adalah sebahagian usaha pencarian dan pengurusan bakat yang dikendalikan oleh pusat ini dengan kerjasama Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia, Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri, Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah, Sekolah, dan Maktab Rendah Sains Mara. Ujian ini adalah percuma dan boleh diambil di sekolah, rumah dan lain-lain tempat yang mempunyai kemudahan Internet tanpa birokrasi. Personally I embrace the new education system wholeheartedly. No exams means no unnecessary stress. I am happy if they are given A's B's etc no need for specific marks to line them up from #1 until #44. What I want them to do is to focus in the class, work hard and do your best. Both Muazzam & I encourage them to be active in extra curricular activities. Muazzam had lots of experience handling fresh graduate. Graduating in 1st Class does not means you are the best in the workplace. Unfortunately No. Some can't work in a group, some can't handle the pressure, some are not good in communication.
Afiq loves his secondary school life. He is in the KRK (Kelas Rancangan Khas) class where all his classmates are those who also scored 5A's in the last UPSR. He has a very active class teacher who always encourage his student to join competition etc. He thought BM by having a treasure hunt. Afiq had played basketball during inter class games, won a quiz etc. Even dreaming of making a movie to enter the competition held by KDU. He also made lots of new friends, some are F2 seniors. The KRK class for F1&F2 had their camping together a few weeks back. Mandi sungai lagi tu.
He told me that he had to do so many presentations in class. Always working in a small group of 3-4 students. Theres this one time when his group had won something and he treasure the prize which is a soft toy heh..heh...very much. Cikgu keluar duit sendiri ma....and 3/4 of his class are girls btw. They also had to do science experiment and write up a report in pairs. He said PBS is lots of work and he prefers exams. He also wholeheartedly volunteering (because you apply for it) to be a school prefect. Did his interview the best that he can and currently undergoing a 6 mths training. He..he...6mths starting from March means the whole school year lah kan. He is so passionate on this so we as parents give him our full support. Had to go to school earlier which leave me with a nearly an hour gap before the time to pick up the girls from SK. As a trainee prefect he has a senior mentor who is a F2 chinese boy and they get along very well. I realised that they speak in english among them in the class even though KRK class consist of 99% Malays.
At the back of our mind as parents we are aware of our decision not to let him going to boarding school which might enable him to experience more things but Alhamdulillah we are happy that he is happy.
